There is no good way to say this other than winters suck here Portland. If you're from anywhere sunny it can be difficult to cope with 6-8 months of low hanging clouds and rain. My advice is to find a hobby or something you love and go hard at it until the summer comes. Besides food my other favorite thing to do here in Portland is attend concerts of my favorite artist. Being from a small city we hardly got any artist traffic. Seems like Portland gets a lot more artist. What's really cool here is that most of the times artist opt for the smaller venue which makes it more intimate and manageable as a woman in my 30s (LOL). Big concert venues are so pointless to me. I feel as though I might as well be at home listening to spotify if I can't see your face from the nosebleeds. See my top 3 fav concerts I've seen here in Portland.
1 Chance the rapper
I have a feeling Chance The Rapper is in a lot of peoples top to see live. The energy and positivity Chance exudes is just one of the many reasons his concert is my number 1. The creativity of his concert was a well thought out idea that kept the crowd energized and focused on him. The puppet choir, Donnie Trumpet!, Donnie Trumpet! Yes Donnie trumpet it was amazing and I will never forget it. My favorite song performed was blessings...I closed my eyes lifted my hands and forgot I wasn't at church. Chance speaks from his soul and with so much conviction I think we can all appreciate that.
2 india arie
Generally I prefer to attend more up tempo concerts but there is something about Ms. India Arie. I attended her concert about 2 years ago and I still remember details as if it occurred yesterday. India entered the stage and started things off in prayer. From there she transformed into the songbird she is and continued to woo my spirit. To this day I have yet to hear an artist sound so good live.
3 Miguel
The first time I saw Miguel in concert I decided to go all the way and just do the VIP package. Why? Well it was affordable and I've been a huge fan of the man FOREVER! Love love loveee Miguel. His concert was amazing. He danced and sang, danced and sang and then danced and sang more LOL. The craziest thing about his concert was the screaming girls who literally wanted to offer their vaginas as a welcome to Portland item for Miguel. I had never been to a concert with so many screaming girls. He would reach out to touch their hands and they almost fainted. I had no idea that he was so idolized. I guess because I like to think of my favorite artist as only my favorite artist...which is a lie. I am looking forward to seeing him again in Feb 2018. See more on upcoming concerts below.
